Moving Grain at Scale The engineering behind the CC420 chain conveyor
In high-capacity grain terminals, a chain conveyor is one of the most loaded pieces of equipment in the plant. It runs for hours. It carries volume. And when it stops unexpectedly, the entire flow stops with it.
The CC420 is engineered for exactly that environment.
At nominal capacity of 200 t/h, and up to 250 t/h at peak, the CC420 handles bulk densities of 750 kg/m³ across runs of up to 80 m. The M160 DIN8167 chain runs at up to 0.60 m/s, driven by a right-angle gearmotor with backstop. Operating range: -15°C to +40°C ambient.
Every design decision connects directly to uptime and ease of maintenance:
☑️ Round-shaped drive and tail stations eliminate grain residue accumulation at the most critical stress points, making cleaning fast without disassembling the machine.
☑️ Heavy-duty Pillow Block Unit bearings are installed and fully replaceable from outside, no shaft disassembly, no extended downtime.
☑️ HDPE bottom lining as standard protects the casing from abrasion and reduces grain friction losses across the full length.
☑️ Chain return on rollers as standard reduces wear on both the chain and the casing floor.
☑️ Casing reinforced with external bottom and side stiffeners gives the structure the rigidity needed for long spans under continuous load.
☑️ Double spring chain tensioning device guarantees automatic chain tension throughout operation, eliminating manual adjustment cycles and the risk of chain slack under variable load.
The result is a conveying system designed for the way grain terminals actually work: at sustained throughput, with minimal intervention, and with maintenance procedures that can be carried out by plant operators rather than specialist teams.
